Adeline Oliver, told by descendant Leslie Oliver

Adeline Oliver had an infant daughter when she and 14 others from the Coombs estate trekked through a forest that was also a warzone to meet a British ship anchored in the Potomac River, near Fort Washington. Her husband, Moses Oliver, was already gone, on an earlier ship from the same river. Their plan was likely to get out separately and later reunite. Meeting along the Potomac to leave as a family would have been dangerous. They were married, but Adeline and Moses were owned by two different people.
